I've made it to J-Hunt! |
Finally out of the confinement period and im back in action, where the first place i decided to checkout would be J-Hunts, The Mottainai Store's Grand opening at AEON Big Subang Jaya. You must be wondering what is J-Hunt all about? Well, to keep it short and sweet, they believe in a philosophy where they embrace the care of the planet by not throwing away items carelessly. I mean, don't get me started about the amount of landfill's we are creating in the world, so this is actually doing the world a favor.

Opened on the 25th October 2019 |

Japanese souvenirs without traveling to Japan |
J-Hunt follows the tagline that we usually hear where 'one mans trash is another mans treasure', and i couldnt agree with the tagline even more after walking into their store this week. J-Hunt offers items that has been re-conditioned and showcases the value of pre-loved to be re-loved through retail. Not to forget, other than doing the world a good deet, they also have their own CSR project called Mottainai Volunteer Project (MPC) where they give a helping hand to those who need it.

I found this picnic bag at a steal price. |
Including cutleries and plates, only RM30 |
Okay, you may have realized that i've written Mottainai a few times by now in the first 2 parragraphs, and you must be wondering, what does it mean? Well, to keep it short and clean, Mottainai is a Japanese term which means 'to have respect for the resources, not to waste them and to use them with a sense of gratitute'. Also, to me, it basically means to preserve the ecology by Reducing, Reuisng and Recycling to show respect to the the people and mother nature.

Star Wars vintage action figure collectibles, RM20/each |
One Piece collectibles can also be found at J-Hunt |
There's more than 1 showcase for you to browse through |
I got my hands a Darth Vader cause it was so cheap! |
If you think J-Hunt is a place that sells pre-loved items, then bingo! But that's not all! Other than Pre-loved items, they have many brand new items, premium items and collectors too! I was surprised to see that they have action figures in a glass display box which looked so classy. Not to forget, i found a corner that sells Star Wars collectables too! Managed to grab one action figure at RM100 and i have no regrets! So, collectors, this could be a secret hideout for you to hunt for your favourite characters.
Also, you may find clothes starting at as low as RM1 |
See, told you! |
They also have pre-loved authentic bags if youre lucky, this is a Kate Spade at only RM180 |
Also, LV is available at only RM320, in pristine condition too! |
Personally speaking, i would say pre-loved are the best thing in the world for people who find brand new items expensive. These items are not old, but i believe has added value to it with a smaller cost to pay. As long as it has a purpose and its still in good condition, its definitely a treasure especially when youre paying a tons of fraction of the original price. In J-hunt, imagine that you can even find clothes at only RM1, which is still in trend and definitely wearable.

For those dreaming to be musicians, now your dream can come true! |
Get yourself a guitar or electric guitar at a cheaper price at J-Hunt |
Other musical instruments are available too! A saxophone at only RM600?! |
There's also camping items at J-Hunt if youre a camper |
Coleman bags at only RM100-RM50, some even new! |
If youre a collector of huge figurines, then you may also find yourself getting this Gundam at a reasonable cost |
Other than Apparels, they also have bags, hobbies, infant products, musical intruments, shoes, sports products, tablewares, toys and watches. Surprisingly, i was more attracted to the plush toy section which has a fair spread of really adorable collectables that doesnt cost a bomb. Found myself getting an alien plush and a pinguin plush which i remember seeing in Japan earlier this year at only RM8 for both! I cant believe that its so cheap cause while i was in Japan, i remember not being able to afford it.
Ergobaby Pre-loved at only RM100 |
Not to forget that you may also find strollers at only RM100! In good condition too |
There's also vintage items such as this teapot from the Edo Period |
Not to forget if youre a huge fan of culture, theres this section where they sell vintage products that share with you the traditional arts of Japan. Believe it or not, some of the items in this section are from the Tokugawa Shogunate aging as old as the Edo Period in (1600 to 1868), making these items really valuable to collectors of rich history and culture that are originated from Japan. If youre lucky, you can find yourself stumbling upon high value items such as Samurai helmets, Fortune Cats, Decorated Porcelain Cast iron tea pots, native wooden dolls and many other traditional items that are seen in Japanese homes today.

The staff were also well trained and ever ready to assist if you need any help |
I bought tons of Japanese goods that i wnted to buy while i was in Japan , and trust me, it was SO WORTH IT! |
After my shopping experience today, i would say that J-Hunt offers a unique array of collections that are rare and premium. To suit the Malaysian market, all items has been filtered and pig skinned products are banned to reassure the muslim cutomers in Malaysia that it is safe to head over to this Mottainai Store. I was also impressed by the service of the staff who were always ready to assist me when i need assitance with some enquiries on some products. Really, i've never been to a store that gave customers so much attention while browsing through the shelves. Well, that all for now and i look forward to see their expansion to reach other states of Malaysia to other ASEAN countries.
