The All-New BMW X5

BMW Malaysia today unveiled two new additions to the BMW X Series: The All-New BMW X5 and the New BMW X2 M35i. The Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) and SAC are equipped with more powerful engines and a distinctive design language to elevate the Sheer Driving Pleasure of driving a BMW. The fourth generation of The Boss and the most powerful Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) with M Performance.

Mr. Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The performance of the BMW X portfolio in Malaysia has been nothing short of remarkable. Last year, we successfully delivered more than 5,000 units of BMW X vehicles, resulting in a significant double-digit growth of 19%. The All-New BMW X5 has grown in all dimensions compared to its predecessor while staying true to its iconic character and proportions. The exterior design language now packs a more athletic punch and is complemented by clean precise lines and clearly defined surfaces.

The large kidney grille

The sculpted bonnet of the All-New BMW X5 conveys a muscular appearance, and the front overhang is now shorter than before. Taking centre stage is a large kidney grille that is sophisticatedly framed by a single surround, giving the vehicle a stronger frontal appearance. The new Adaptive LED headlights are slim and wrap around into the front wings of the vehicle. With the M Sport package, the All-New BMW X5 also features 20-inch light alloy wheels and M Sport brakes with fixed callipers in a dark blue paint finish with the BMW M logo.

At the rear, the All-New BMW X5 features stunning new three-dimensional wrap-around LED taillights. The large, rectangular tailpipes affixed also project an image of formidable power familiar to the BMW X Series.

Front seat interior

The All-New BMW X5 also features an all-round growth in dimensions, lending to its excellent manoeuvrability and maximised comfort. The length of the All-New BMW X5 has now increased by 36mm to 4,922mm with an increase in width by 66mm to 2,004mm. It now features a higher roofline as well at 1,745mm, a 19mm step up from its predecessor. The wheelbase also increased by 42mm and now measures 2,975mm. It also provides a more spacious luggage compartment from 650 litres up to 1,870 litres.

A powerful, fuel-efficient three-litre six-cylinder petrol engine powers the All-New BMW X5. It can generate a top speed of 243km/h with a maximum output of 250kW/340hp and a peak torque of 450Nm. The All-New BMW X5 can go from 0-100km/h in only 5.5 seconds. Its fuel-efficiency is demonstrated by its significantly lowered fuel-consumption of 9.2 l/100km of travel with carbon emission of 211/km.

The formidable engine is complemented by a revised eight-speed Steptronic transmission with enhanced shift dynamics. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via xDrive. Equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, five-link rear suspension and Adaptive M Suspension, the chassis of the All-New BMW X5 can be specifically configured to maximise its dynamic ability or comfort. As expected from BMW, the All-New BMW X5’s suspension is tuned to provide Sheer Driving Pleasure with maximum agility provided by the Sports mode and performance personalisation by the Driving Experience Control.

Featuring the finishing of the interior of the BMW X5

The interior of the All-New BMW X5 bears the M Sport DNA. It features the exclusive M leather steering wheel with shift paddles and the M stainless steel pedals. The door sill finishers with the M logo exudes a sporty yet elegant appeal. Another striking characteristic of the All-New BMW X5’s design language is the special electroplated finishing that adds an electrifying touch of luxury to the interior. It also combines comprehensive standard equipment such as the electrically adjustable sport seats with Vernasca Leather upholstery and the ambient lighting complete with the Welcome Carpet.

The all-new SAV also conveys a great sense of luxury and comfort with four-zone air conditioning, Rear Seat Entertainment Professional and the Panorama glass roof which makes for a brighter interior. The transparent area of the glass roof has been increased by 30%. The cargo cover can now be electrically retracted into the luggage compartment floor, and with the Comfort Access, both parts of the two-piece tailgate can also be opened and closed electrically at the convenient touch of a button.

A stand-out feature of the All-New BMW X5’s interior is the now-standard new BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Navigation Professional powered by the new BMW Operating System 7.0. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional combines the 12.3-inch Information Display with an equally large central Control Display featuring touchscreen function and an advanced user interface. The Info Display projects navigational content, the vehicle’s position and any relevant traffic information ahead. Together with the New BMW Head-up Display, now with a 70% larger display area compared to the predecessor, all important information can be viewed comfortably at eye-level. The intelligent integration of navigational data into the Info Display allows the Control Display to focus on more infotainment and vehicle functions. The BMW Operating System 7.0 in the Control Display also prioritises intuitive touch control for the first time.

An expanded range of driver assistance systems is ever ready to further the direction of automated driving for the all-new SAV. The latest BMW Personal CoPilot includes a cruise control system with braking function, Lane Departure Warning with steering intervention, Frontal Collision Warning with braking intervention that also now responds to cyclists on the road, rear cross traffic warning and rear collision prevention. 

Equipped with intelligent Park Assist

Furthermore, the All-New BMW X5 is equipped with the intelligent Park Assist that is capable of manoeuvring in and out of parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. The new Reversing Assist also provides an unmatched form of support when manoeuvring out of a parking spot and operating in tight spaces. The system also keeps a record of the last 50 metres of the drive to the parking space and will assist with exiting the space by taking over the steering.

The BMW ConnectedDrive service is extended to include the BMW Digital Key for the All-New BMW X5, making it easier to unlock and start the vehicle without the use of a conventional key. All it requires is an Android smartphone, with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, held close to the driver’s door handle to easily unlock the vehicle. The engine can also be started by placing the smartphone in the centre console’s charging tray. The BMW Digital Key can be used for up to five additional smartphones to make sharing the All-New BMW X5 more convenient than ever.

Thanks to the adapted silencer system, the M Performance exhaust system produces a particularly sporty sound spectrum. 20-inch M Sport light alloy wheels in 721M styling and in Cerium Grey bicolour impressively round off the exterior design features.

Speed of the New BMW M35i

The New BMW X2 M35i is powered by BMW’s formidable 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine. The first-ever M Performance 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine sets a new benchmark above its predecessors as it generates a maximum power output of 225kW/306hp and a maximum torque of 450Nm. The top speed of the New BMW X2 M35i is at an impressive 250km/h, consuming 7.4 litres of fuel for every 100km of travel.

Internal navigation

To ensure that this sheer power is securely transferred to the tarmac, the New BMW X2 M35i comes with the intelligent four-wheel drive technology, xDrive in conjunction with the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including Launch Control, an acceleration aide for optimal traction and grip when accelerating upon start-up. The automatic transmission features specific M Performance tuning. As a result, the BMW X2 M35i can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Also, the thermal stability of the engine is now ensured by a redesigned cooling system.

The New BMW X2 M35i also features an M Sport suspension system that has been specifically tuned and adapted to match the car’s sporty character. A first for an M Performance vehicle is the M Sport Differential installed in the front axle gear that effectively reduces possible traction losses on the front wheels during highly dynamic driving manoeuvres. The newly upgraded M Sport braking system with fixed callipers in Dark Blue metallic and 18-inch steel discs at the front with 17-inch at the rear guarantees consistently short braking distances even under the highest loads.

BMW Malaysia Introduces the All-New BMW X4

BMW Malaysia today introduced the All-New BMW X4 to the premium automaker’s extensive portfolio of Sports Activity Coupe (SAC). The second-generation BMW X4 that will be locally assembled in the country, further demonstrating BMW Group Malaysia’s commitment to growing its investments in Malaysia. With greater driving dynamics, outstanding exterior design and leading-edge connectivity technologies, the second generation BMW X4 will surely leave anyone impressed.

“The BMW X4 broke new ground when it was first introduced in 2014 as a Sports Activity Coupe. Its forward-thinking design challenged the status quo with strength and versatility capable of conquering every terrain. The BMW Group successfully delivered over 200,000 units of the BMW X4 since it was unveiled in 2014 and Malaysia had the opportunity to assemble the BMW X4 at the BMW Assembly Facilities at the Inokom Corporation Plant in Kulim, Kedah.

An eye-catching athlete

The exterior design of the All-New BMW X4 is a case study in muscular dynamics and commanding presence. The three-dimensional design of the larger BMW kidney grille conveys a stronger presence than before. Equipped with adaptive LED headlights and high beam assistant, the All-New BWW X4 also features a long bonnet, low windscreen with acoustic glass fitted to reduce wind noise, and a coupe-style roofline for a sporty, dynamic appearance.

The All-New BMW X4 features sportier proportions with an increased length of 4,752mm (+81mm) and width of 1,918mm (+37mm). Its wheelbase is now 2,864mm (+54mm) but with a lower roofline of 1,621mm (-3mm). The rear aspect is especially distinctive. Its character is defined by an extremely athletic shoulder area as well as the slim, wrap-around taillights with their three-dimensional styling. The second-generation sports activity coupe also features the M Sport brake and 20” M light alloy Double-spoke rims in style 699M with mixed tires.

Captivating dynamism, incredible versatility

Powering the All-New BMW X4 is a formidable 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. It generates a maximum power of 185kW/252hp with a peak torque output of 350Nm. It has a top speed of 240km/h and can do the century sprint in just 6.3 seconds. All of these are achieved with combined fuel consumption of 7.8 liters per 100km of travel and a combined CO2emission of 178g/km. The engine is complemented by an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission that enables faster gear changes and comes with shift paddles on the steering wheel along with a Launch Control function.

The remarkably modified chassis provides even better agility. The higher percentage of light-weight aluminium and high-strength steel components has reduced the vehicle’s weight by up to 50 kilograms, offering the best-in-class Cd value of 0.30. Its centre of gravity is now even lower than before. Benefiting from an almost perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution, the All-New BMW X4 presents superior steering precision, more agile handling and significantly improved ride comfort.

Standard equipment for the vehicle includes xDrive all-wheel drive, Adaptive Suspension, Variable Sport Steering, electronic differential lock, Hill-Start Assistant, Hill Descent Control along with Performance Control that distributes engine and braking control to the individual wheels when turning.

Sporting character with a modern, premium feel

Inside, the All-New BMW X4 exudes opulence with electroplated trim details for the controls and a larger free-standing 10.25-inch Navigation System Professional with Touch Sensitive Control Display, complete with BMW ConnectedDrive. The all-new SAC is also equipped with a full-color Head-Up Display. In addition to that is a high-resolution 12.3-inch Multifunctional Instrument Display with Black-Panel Technology. The advanced Voice Control system has also been improved to follow instructions phrased in natural language.

The All-New BMW X4 is now furnished with features previously showcased in luxury sedans only. These include the exquisite Vernasca Leather upholstery in Tacora Red and a three-zone air conditioning system with separate controls for the rear seats. The most anticipated interior highlight of the vehicle is the large Panorama Glass Roof that makes the cabin appear brighter and more spacious for a luxurious ambiance while on the road. Drivers can enjoy music served by the Harman Kardon 16-Speaker Surround Sound System.

The 4+1-seater’s cockpit is oriented towards the driver; the slightly raised seating position and low instrument panel enable clear visibility of the road. The newly designed sports seats with pronounced side bolster create a sporty ambiance for the front occupants, as do the knee pads on the center console. With the widened wheelbase, space for the rear passengers has increased by 27mm, providing ample legroom and knee room. Luggage capacity has also increased by 25 liters to 525 liters and can be expanded up to 1,430 liters by folding down the 40/20/40-split rear seat backrests completely.

In the spirit of giving and the holy month of Ramadhan, Resorts World Genting recently hosted a Majlis Berbuka Puasa for underprivileged orphan children and senior citizens. Resorts World Genting prepared a fun-filled itinerary, not only for the children, but also including the senior citizens in conjunction with the festive season, treating them to an experiences at the mountain resort.

Waking up bright and early on Sunday, the children woke up anticipating their first trip to Resorts World Genting and prepared light jackets for the trip. With 158 children from three orphanages (Dar Asnaf Al-Fateh Gombak, Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah and Rumah Anak Yatim Dan Asnaf As-Solihin) and 12 senior citizens from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid in attendance, the journey up Gunung Ulu Kali allowed these special guests the chance to see spectacular views of pristine rainforest coming up the mountain. Upon arrival at Genting Grand Hotel, the children and senior citizens were greeted warmly by the Resorts World Genting team, including Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, wife of Genting Malaysia Berhad Chairman Hospitality and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Dato’ Edward Holloway, Executive Vice President of Leisure and and Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resort Communications and Public Relations).

As members of the Resorts World Genting team greeted each orphan and senior citizen individually, smiles were seen all around as the guests marvelled at the scale of the resort and enjoyed the cool weather. Speaking in Malay, Puan Seri Cecilia Lim said, “I would first like to extend my thanks to the children’s homes and old folks’ homes for attending our ‘buka puasa’ feast on this special day. The month of Ramadhan is a holy time where our Muslims friends fast together for their faith. This month is also a time where we are all reminded to be giving and this celebration today is a small gesture by Resorts World Genting to the community.” 

With the guests and the Genting team quickly becoming fast friends, the group was led up to the soaring atrium of SkyAvenue. The children and senior citizens witnessed the brand-new Batman Experience at the SkySymphony stage. A celebration of the iconic comic superhero’s 80 years, the show dazzled the guests as the history of the Caped Crusader played out across 360-degree wraparound screens and transforming winch ball display set to a pulsating soundtrack.

After seeing this kinetic audio-visual extravaganza, the group was then led to the Snow World for another treat. Snow World at First World Plaza brought the guests into an enchanting wintry wonderland at a chilly -6°, they were ushered in by warm staff to prepare them with gloves, boot and jackets. They were brief at the entrance and off they went, running into the cold. The children were in awe of the snow and all the 3D trick art attractions. Giggles and laughter were heard as they slide down the toboggans and having snow ball fights with each other.

Filled with adrenaline from experiencing snow for the very first time, the group walked through SkyAvenue Mall to proceed to the 4thFloor Adventureland; where the Dinosaurs at and oddities await them. In the Jurassic Research Centre, the group were brought back into time when Dinosaurs ruled the earth. Some were scared and some were brave, to get up close and personal with each dinosaurs that were displayed. They continued on their journey into a world of oddities at Ripley’s Believe it or Not with the wackiest and weirdest items that our unusual world has to offer. They played around with the interactive displays and burst out with laughter as they experienced new things like never before.

“Decades back, I used to visit Resorts World Genting with my family and I have many happy memories here. Although my loved ones are not here with me, I am often reminded of them during the Ramadhan month and I felt young again today whilst enjoying myself with the many activities,” said En. Harrunashid Mohd Nor from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid.

After a fun-filled day, the group head out into the cool mountain air just as the sun began to set, bathing the landscape in a golden glow. With the time for Buka Puasa drawing near, the children and senior citizens were treated to a thrilling ride on the SkyAvenue Skyway cable car, marvelling at the dusk-hued panorama. Upon arrival at the graceful setting of Awana Hotel, they were led to Rajawali Coffee House where a delicious spread of over 100 dishes awaited them. Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, Dato’ Edward Holloway and Katherine Chew were once again in attendance, greeting and mingling among the group. 

As the Maghrib prayer call rang out across the clear mountain air, the guests tucked in to the special pasar malam-themed buffet. Featuring a collection of food and drink stalls serving dishes deeply steeped in Malaysian culture – from Ayam Percik to Murtabak, Nasi Briyani to Roast Lamb, fresh seafood to a giant spread of traditional kueh – members of the Genting team assisted the guests to ensure that everyone got to sample a taste of the splendid Buka Puasa buffet.

“Although we don’t often get to visit the ‘Pasar Ramadhan’, I felt like I was in one today with the amazing buffet. I also had a lot of fun watching the shows today, riding the cable car and even seeing Batman!” said Puan Roselina binti Rusli from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah

With full bellies and broad smiles, the children and senior citizens were treated to one last surprise. Each of the three orphanages and the old folks home received a gift hamper of rice, cooking oil, Milo, Maggi instant noodles, dried Bihun and biscuits to take a little bit of the Genting hospitality home with them. Each child also received a goodie bag containing a Faber-Castell stationery set and snacks like Twisties, Cheezels and assorted candies, along with an auspicious Duit Raya packet. The senior citizens were not left out, with each receiving a gift bag containing necessary amenities including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, body cream and a revitalising bottle of Minyak Cap Kapak.

Under the twinkling light of a thousand stars against an inky-black sky, it was time to say goodbye. The Resorts World Genting team bade farewell to each and every one of their guests, wishing them a happy Ramadhan and a special Hari Raya Puasa, with a promise that they would see each other again. Ramadhan is a month of reflection and generosity, and this special Majlis Berbuka Puasa day will be one that these children and senior citizens will always remember.

Malik Streams Corporation Contributes to 296 Children for Raya 2019

In conjunction with the Ramadhan month, over the weekend there was a children's charity program which was held on 25th May 2019 at 10am to 12 noon at Jakel Mall, Kuala Lumpur. Since i was up bright an early, I decided to witness the whole good deed experience to really show my appreciation to the sponsors for making this all happen for the children who were there. Overall, a total of 296 children and students from nursing/welfare centers receive their choice of Baju Raya from the organizer. I don't know about you, but that's a lot of people to gather within a day!

The 296 children consist of children from Al-Inayah Titian Love House, Orphanage and Poor Welfare Association Al-Munirah Kg. Johan Setia Klang, Malaysian Rahoma Darul Fakir Organization, Special People's Homestay House and Rukaiyah Kajang Orphan / Child Care Center. Being the lucky few nursing homes and welfare that were selected, it was really nice to see everyone joining hand in hand as they embraced the event to run smoothly.

The founders of both Malik Streans Corporation and Iman Health and Beauty were really humble since i managed to start up a quick chat with them. I can really sense their sincerity in ensuring that the kids deserve some love from society too.
