The Orton-Gillingham approach was developed in 1920 by Dr. Samuel Orton, a doctor who first discovered the existence of dyslexia together with Anna Gillingham, a gifted teacher, and psychologist. If you are not aware, this approach has been supported by over 100,000 scientific studies over 70 years that conclusively showed that a reading approach should include five important pillars, namely phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
